In many cultures, dance represents vitality, belonging and feminine strength. Music and movement create a common language – they connect women across cultural boundaries. Dance strengthens body awareness, promotes self-confidence and helps to process experiences.
Dancing is Sara’s passion. She has mastered traditional dance from Afghanistan and Iran with great dedication. Today she lives in Switzerland and dreams of learning other dance styles and exchanging ideas with other women. Her idea: women from different cultures should meet and ‘dance’ together. If the financial means were there, she would immediately attend various dance classes. Sara’s wish and vision inspired us to bring her project idea to life.
Neuroscientist Stephen Porges’ polyvagal theory shows that movement can regulate the nervous system and reduce stress.
Based on this insight – and inspired by Sara’s idea – we want to create a space where women from different cultures can meet, exchange ideas and find expression through the unifying element of dance.
Various dance teachers invite participants to engage in physical and creative exploration with their different styles. The group is accompanied by a dance and movement therapist who supports the women in strengthening their self-confidence and developing their own expressiveness. We envision results such as choreographies and creative workshops that offer space for encounter and development.
